Nice job combining the lead and rhythm arrangements, the other version had way to much dead space for my taste. I went in EOF and combined the parts as well but I was not going to post it since it was not my work though. I have seen charters blame guitar pro tabs for having split up arrangements and solos. I cant believe they dont know how to copy paste, it's so easy. Anyway good job. I didn't blame it on the GP tab, since I made it myself; I told you before that I purposely left the lead arrangement open; I'm sorry that the reasoning for it is beyond your understanding. It's good that you didn't post it...dpslikeits1999 contacted me to work this out and ask permission to go ahead with the project. @ I messaged you about the arpeggios and having the tuning changed to Eb weeks ago; it's incorrect in this version. I'm more than willing to combine the arrangements and publish as a single file if those corrections are made. |

I ran the DDC tool (in the Custom Song Creator Toolkit) on the non-DD version and it worked perfectly- no crashes or anything. Standard settings. Great song, thanks so much. This is how I generated the DD version, too. I did it again and still got the freeze at the beginning of the lead track. If you have a version that works, if you can link me to it, I'll add it to the database and credit you with making it. Thanks. |

Feedback on tone for lead track: just a tad more overdrive. I've been playing it on a Strat with Hot Noiseless pickups, switching between the neck (palm muted/rhythm sections) and the bridge for everything else. To my ears, it needs to be just a little crunchier. Plays pretty well...very fun song! Thanks again. |

Yeah, the video is pretty much the way I'm used to playing it. So, the only ones that are really necessary to change are the pinch bends, since they're the wrong notes, and the last three notes moved up to the 2nd string. I played it through my way several times, and those are the only notes that won't register properly. Thanks for taking the suggestions into consideration, and thanks for the song, again. The Final Cut is probably my favorite Pink Floyd album. |

Title: The Fletcher Memorial Home Date: August 13, 2014 12:08 PM |
Plum, I had a chance to play through this, and found a few errors; The bends at the 14th fret (coming off the g at 12th fret 3rd string) on the 2nd string should be at the 13th fret. After that second bend at 13th, 2nd string, you have a series of 3 bends at the 15th fret, 2nd string. The first bend you have there should actually be a slide up to 17th fret from the 15th, 2nd string. The final triplet in the solo should be at 7th/8th fret 2nd string, or 11th/12th fret, 3rd string. The notes leading into that can also be played in simile at the 11th(bend, 1/2step), 10th(v), and 8th(v) fret, 2nd string (which is the route I usually take when playing this solo). If you've got good finger reach, you can hit the 6th string 15th, 14th, and 12th with the above. Also, the two pinch harmonic bends are on the 3rd string, second fret, not at 5th string 7th fret. Hope that was helpful. |

Title: Diary of a Madman Date: August 7, 2014 9:23 PM |
From the Record: I kept the lead and rhythm separate, so there is less to do in the lead track. Rhythm track is very busy. This is a studio version; I construct these mostly for my own learning purposes (putting together a cdlc from scratch, and charting it by ear); it is one of the best ways I've found to learn a song. I left the sections of the lead empty on purpose, and I won't be changing it. So, I mentioned at least twice, including in the record, that the lead track was sparse, and that I was unwilling to nearly completely re-tab the whole song so someone won't be too bored when playing the lead arrangement. I seriously find it incredible that someone is so bored during a piece of music that they need to have every measure filled with something to play. For the third time...if that arrangement is too boring, despite how good the song is, then you're free to leave the cdlc alone and not play it. That's not on me. This isn't constructive feedback...no one has mentioned the rhythm arrangement at all, which is actually much more difficult to play than the lead, and is pretty much chock full aside from one section where the lead plays alone. There's been no feedback about note accuracy, if anything is off, if the arpeggios are helping people with the right chord placement, etc. This feedback is all about how bored people are when they're not being constantly entertained during the lead section, and it's by the same couple of people. The other things...say lead section 1 is out of sync, or maybe add a section here so it's easier to use in RR, or this note is placed incorrectly, etc....are things I would go back in and correct or try to fix for people. I posted the song so people could download and play it; so it could be used as a learning tool. Some folks have chosen to complain about being bored, others will download it and be happy that someone actually took the time and effort to make this fairly challenging song. It is chock full of time changes, and synchronizing it properly was quite a job because of it. Also, you're the 2nd person to comment on this thread with a post count of 1 and a join date of today. Seriously, why didn't you just use your normal handle? |

Title: Diary of a Madman Date: August 7, 2014 7:06 PM |
He played all the parts, in different tracks, in the studio. When he laid down the track for the rhythm, he played just the rhythm. When he recorded the lead, he just played the lead. When he recorded the rhythm simile, he just played that. When he added the accents, he just played that. This song isn't a live performance. The live performance is missing half or more of the production instrumentation in the actual recorded version. Yes, he was the only guitarist in the studio. But he played multiple lines, at different times, and the sound engineers put it together. This is the normal way music is recorded. If you look at a song like Heaven and Hell, there are five full guitar parts. Tony Iommi put down all of those tracks separately, and they were put together by the band and Martin Birch. When he plays it live, he plays an amalgam of all of the parts. In this song, when you cut away from the rhythm to go to lead, and then back, or vice versa, you often drop into the middle of a rhythm pattern; part of the lead was so disruptive to the rhythm track that going between the two would drop you into a different part of the pattern every time you cut away. So, for good technical and theory reasons, I choose to separate the lead and rhythm completely. If you listen well to live songs, you can easily identify the missing parts, unless there is only one guitar, or two parts, with two guitarists. Again, if you don't like the arrangement, you can completely opt out and not play it. This is the last I'm going to say about it. |

Title: Diary of a Madman Date: August 7, 2014 6:25 PM |
Seriously? Did any of you even look at the rhythm track? It's too much hassle to switch and learn the rhythm of a song? Arranged properly? If I had arranged it properly, there would be 4 separate guitar parts, and only one of them filled for most of the song. So, I've played it through several times. The sync good, the tones are fairly good. This song was actually a real bitch to sync, and all I get is complaining because of short attention spans? You're very welcome for the song! |
Artist:
Ozzy Osbourne
Title: Diary of a Madman Date: August 7, 2014 4:05 PM |
Right. So my main concern with this was the sync; it has many, many time changes and in all, the studio version has 4 guitars played on different tracks. If I had tabbed a live version, then I would have combined all the parts, because that's how it's played, live. I'd like to point out that the live version of a song isn't the definitive version of it, in most cases. I found the changes between rhythm and lead in this song to be disruptive to the overall experience. How busy the song keeps you isn't the point of playing a song. This is a studio version; I construct these mostly for my own learning purposes (putting together a cdlc from scratch, and charting it by ear); it is one of the best ways I've found to learn a song. I left the sections of the lead empty on purpose, and I won't be changing it. If you need something to do in the clear parts, learn the rhythm first, and play it anyway. I put a tone change in each of those parts for that very reason. The song is roughly six minutes long; you're not losing that much entertainment time waiting for the lead parts to come up. If that doesn't suit you, them I'm sorry you don't like how the song is put together, and you're welcome to avoid playing it. |

Title: Diary of a Madman Date: August 7, 2014 2:49 PM |
You might want to fill in the empty spots in lead with what the rhythm is playing, dead spots can ruin a cdlc and I would hate to see that happen to this one. Hey, I left them empty on purpose; I specifically set out to separate the lead and the rhythm. At each of the rhythm sections that don't have lead charting, the tone changes, so that if you've already learned the rhythm, you can still play along. I'm not a big fan of combining both lead and rhythm parts in a CDLC; I'l do it from time to time when a song is really dead lead-wise, but there's plenty to keep the guitarist busy in this one, including working on little acoustic fills and harmonies in the dead lead spots. |

I asked a few of the folks in the chat how to put in the proper chord shapes for the song, so fingerpicking should be somewhat easier once I update the song. Title: Fire and Rain Date: March 13, 2014 2:50 PM |
A couple of things concerning this song: 1) Capo required2) Fingerpicking required.3) Sounds great on an acoustic-electric, even through Rocksmith The playthrough video is from James Taylor's YouTube channel, and has the man himself demonstrating the best way to play the song. The dynamic difficulty was generated using the Toolkit. I've taken a look at it and it is completely inadequate for learning the hand positions in this song. I'll be redoing the levels very soon with a more logical difficulty progression. James Taylor uses three (at least) unconventional finger positions for D, G and A when he plays. This is mainly to allow for better hammer-on and pull-off from those positions, as well as making the transition from those chords to F and B barre chordings much easier. When playing a D, he forms the chord by reversing the positions of his 1st and 2nd fingers....1st finger is at e2, 2nd finger is at G2. For this song, the 1st will be at e5 and the second at G5. When playing a G, he bridges e3 and B3 with his 4th finger. This is tough to do if you're not used to it. For A, he reverses the order of his finger placement. 3rd D2, 2nd G2, 1st B2. If you watch the video of him playing, you'll see the unusual chord formation, as well as the fingerpicking pattern for the song. Hope you all enjoy. EDIT: Version 1.1 is up, chord positions are added, forced strums are removed. The chord positions are standard, not JT's alternative fingering. However, the first few chords in the song intro don't seem to want to display the chord fingerings...don't know exactly what to do about it. Will be adding the bass line as requested, but it'll be a few days. |
