Racks, you're spoiling us with all these Waylon songs... please don't stop! ;) (Only 40 or so more to go before you run out of the great ones by Waylon.) When this song came out (1980-ish, I think) I was still in high school. I bought the single -- a vinyl 45 -- and tried like hell to wear it out. I had such a great visual image of its story, and told myself when I got old I'd sit around on the porch and play a bass like Clyde. Now, it seems I'm living the dream... I'm old, and I sit around a lot, playing my bass just like Clyde. Here's the funny part, where life imitates art -- a few months ago my wife had been "verbally persistent" about going to town while I was in the middle of my practice session (a.k.a., goofing off with my bass). Annoyed, she came over and kicked the leg of my chair and said, "C'mon, Jennings, we got things to do!" If she'd have called me Clyde, I'd have died on the spot. I laughed so hard about it that I put my bass away and took her to Dairy Queen. You deserve an ice cream, too. Many thanks! Glad your enjoying these! Oh that's good! if that happened to me, that would make my day... aswell as a bit speachless. Thanks for sharing! |

Thank you for this. Really appreciate it. If you could tackle his song Bad Habits in the future I would be very grateful. I grew up listening and singing along to it with my dad. Big time favorite. I lack the skills to make it myself or I would. I'm currently working on another Waylon song someone's requested, but after that I'l definitely take a look at it. |

Again, I sure love finding Waylon songs on here. I grew up listening to him, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Don Williams, and all those "real Country" performers. Makes it hard to warm up to these new guys. Thanks a bunch for this one, my friend, and if you're planning to do more Waylon tunes for us, take a close look at "DON'T THINK TWICE", "THIS TIME", and "WURLITZER PRIZE". Because your focus is on bass, you might find one of these a good candidate for a charting project. Any (or all) of these would be a great choice for us bass players, but admittedly, I think that about nearly all of Waylon's songs. (I just love playing along to his music.) :D Thanks! Glad you're enjoying the songs. I first heard Waylon when I was a kid with I Ain't Living Long Like This and I fell in love with his music. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll take a look at them. |

This is awesome - thank you! Any chance in getting the 6-string parts added? Thank you! Rhythm is almost completed, lead's going to be bit more challenging. I can't find any tabs, so I'll have to probably go by ear. |
