Carpathian Forest is a Norwegian black metal band formed in 1992 by Nattefrost and Nordavind. The band is known for a style often described as black 'n' roll, featuring a distinctive bass tone and lyrics addressing themes such as BDSM, perversion, misanthropy, death, and suicide.
The band originally began in late 1990 under the name Enthrone, founded by Nattefrost, then using the pseudonym Lord Nosferatu, and Nordavind, known as Lord Karnstein. They self-released a demo tape titled "Black Winds" in 1991.
