1. Renaissance is a British progressive rock band originally formed in early 1968 by former members of The Yardbirds, including drummer Jim McCarty and guitarist/vocalist Keith Relf. The initial lineup also included keyboardist John Hawken, bassist Louis Cennamo, and vocalist Jane Relf. This early version of the band released two albums, "Renaissance" (1969) and "Illusion" (1971), before disbanding. Some members later formed the band Illusion.
