How Most wanted works

Most wanted is one ranked list of songs members want that have no CDLC yet. It is in the Wishlist and Create menus and is open to every member who is logged in. Creators use it to pick what to chart next.

Where the rows come from

The board merges three signals. When two of them point at the same song, it is one row carrying both.

  • Wishlist items: open items with at least one upvote and no linked CDLC. Claimed and completed items are not on the board. Two items for the same song add their votes together, and the row links the one with the most votes.
  • Searches with no results: searches by logged-in members in the last 30 days that found nothing. A search counts once 2 or more members ran it, 3 or more times in all, and it is at least 3 characters long. It drops off as soon as the catalog finds a CDLC for it, or for the spelling the search suggests ("greenday" is a typo, not a missing song).
  • Last.fm top tracks: the top 10 tracks on Last.fm of the 40 artists members favorite most, when the artist has no CDLC of that track.

How it is ranked

Each row scores:

  • 1 point per wishlist upvote
  • 1 point per member whose search found nothing
  • 10 points for a Last.fm #1 track, down to 1 point for #10

Rows are sorted by score, most first. Use the tabs at the top to see one source at a time.

The board is rebuilt every six hours, and the page shows when it was last built. A new upvote or a new CDLC shows up on the next build.

Getting a song on the board

  • Add it to the Wishlist, if it isn't there already.
  • Upvote the existing item. Every upvote is a point, and an item with no upvotes is not on the board at all.
  • Favorite the artists you want charted. The most favorited artists are the ones whose Last.fm top tracks are checked.

What creators do with it

A creator picks a row and opens its wishlist item to claim it with Interested in charting, or uses Start a Workshop project on the row. When the CDLC is uploaded, matching wishlist items are completed and drop off the board on the next build. Everyone who upvoted them is told.
