Title: Bus Stop Date: July 14, 2023 8:01 AM |
A lot of their best stuff didn't make it to the States for some crazy reason. Here's a classic, you may have never heard: THE HOLLIES - CURLY BILLY *T*O*T*P*1973 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8AC--NG-i_0 It was their single when Alan came back after his one year "holiday" during which Long Cool Woman made number one around the world and number 2 on Billboard. What a fiasco. Yeah. Tony played bass whenever Bernie changed over to keys for live performances. There's a couple of excellent live recorded concerts on the net. |

Title: Bus Stop Date: July 8, 2023 1:15 AM |
Great stuff. So glad you've got into the highly under rated Hollies. Tony Hicks played the lead while Graham Nash (later in CSNY) played the counterpoint second lead. I have plenty of suggestions if you want to do more of their lesser known but fantastic songs. So Thanks, yet again. |

Title: Watermelon in Easter Hay Date: November 27, 2021 2:45 AM |
There is a slight timing error in this. If it annoys you you can download the new version. I kept this one up because it contains different rhythm and marimba parts not in the other version. It is an entirely different version. This one was transcribed by me by ear before any other transcriptions appeared on the net so is probably not as accurate. It was my first full custom so probably a bit too ambitious. Any plans for "Bobby Brown"? :)I plan to do Bobby Brown eventually but only after Magic Fingers, Let's make the Water turn Black, Sharlena, Willie the Pimp and lots of others. As you can see progress is slow. |

Nice job GH. Interesting point about the lead /harmonica track. I always figure you can skip thru on riff repeater to just play those couple of bars. My friend in Dallas likes to double up the rhythm track until you get to the solo. To each his own I guess. Thanks for this one. |

@lamby Thanks lamby. :-) I knew someone out there would appreciate it. Enjoy. I'm a pretty slow charter and it takes time. Forever Now is high on the to do list along with My Baby, Cheap Wine... and some more Crawl. Just don't expect them real soon. Most Aussie stuff doesn't have good GP5s on UltimateGuitar, so you have to put more work into it. Have you tried to chart some yourself? Cheers, mczero |

Thanks for the update. Funny that Johnny got the words all wrong, but it doesn't matter, it's so good. I always wished they would release this on LP or 45 back in the day, but they moved on so fast. A little clip of this was the first many of us saw of them on the news in '62/ '63. Strange things happening in Liverpool! Crowds lined up. Girls screaming... Hope you've mastered the lead by now. Cheers, mczero |

Title: The Last Time Date: March 3, 2021 2:47 AM |
Thanks for the update. Nice to get support for your work! Not much of that from Ubi these days. You could be right about the Verve thing. It was supposed to be a rhetorical question meaning it is such a great song; how could they miss it? I played it in bands from '64 on. It's nice to get your corrections on that solo finally. Back then we didn't realize Brian played the riff as you had to be lucky to catch it on tv, after that it was gone forever almost... Funny that you didn't hear it till youtube came along. Certainly a best effort to remedy Ubi's failure. P.S. I'm going to try to make a custom of Heart of Stone down the track. Hope you have heard of it.All the best and thanks. |

I love this track. I'd never heard of Timmons before. His playing is superb and tone beaut. The screen camera doesn't follow the up fretboard. I think it might be a simple fix of allowing automatic FHPs Fret hand positions in EoF, but you never know till you try it. It's so easy in EoF for one little thing to stuff it up. Anyhow it's good enough to really enjoy the song and fun to try to puzzle out what he's playing. Thanks for bringing him to my attention. |

Obviously you've spent a good amount of time in the laboratory of the utility muffin research kitchen, but some people like cupcakes exclusively... Most importantly though, it's notation is correct and with that fact, this problem is worth the fix it requires. Many thanks for this, I didn't notice the alleged errors and frankly if they are there it didn't take away from my enjoyment of playing it. Thanks guys. There is a sync problem at times. It's just taking me some time to psych myself up to having another shot at it after the negativity, I struck. I'm nearly there, you never know. Getting a bit of encouragement makes all the difference. |

Thanks @ Yeah. Thanks. The timing seems to be one beat out. I think that's what you meant. I think the notes at A440 at spot on for pitch though. Let me know what you think. I'm working on a fix right now. Funny, it is perfectly in time in EoF. Cheers, mczero It works well now. I really appreciate your work since I'm a beginner. Could I suggest: "I Want To Tell You" and "Doctor Robert" for rocksmith? Worth a shot. Thanks for the positive feedback. Getting rare nowadays. Those songs are on my very long "to do" list for sure. Unfortunately charting is time consuming and most charters just do the songs they have a buzz for at the time and don't have time to do requests. You never know what's gonna pop up on CF. If you want a song in a hurry the answer is here. That's where we all started. In fact it's much better than what we had. You don't need to be a great player to do a great chart. Just time and effort required. Good luck. Cheers, mczero |

@SakasaZeRo Yeah. Thanks. The timing seems to be one beat out. I think that's what you meant. I think the notes at A440 at spot on for pitch though. Let me know what you think. I'm working on a fix right now. Funny, it is perfectly in time in EoF. Cheers, mczero |

Thanks Ter. Fixed the album art on this page. Image was too big for CF. I think the image in the psarc is ok. Ça plane pour moi. Unfortunately the custom drifts out a bit with the audio, because I tried to hasten the process by skipping the GoPlayalong step. It almost worked and looked fine in EoF. I started out intending to do this whole album, but got stuck on You Know My Name, changed over to J & Y, then got bogged down with millions of section marker errors, then ran out of time. So this is it for now. I'll have to re-do it the long way someday. Sigh. I always love your descriptive content so I was just trying to keep up to the standard. Cheers, mczero |

Thanks so much for these. Much appreciated. Did you know you can adjust the tuning to A440 in Audacity before you start charting and it overcomes retuning issues. I'm not asking you to re-do this. Something to keep in mind for next time. I know how much work is involved. Thanks. |

Yeah. I think we all need to share tricks and tips more and try to save each other time. I think a lot of guys are too competitive. There might be a better site than sonicApi that I've used in the past but I couldn't find it this time. Guitar bands back then generally didn't care about A440 as long as they were in tune with each other, which worked fine until they tried to add a piano or organ track to a recorded piece. That You Really Got Me is early odlc and I don't think Ubi were on top of their game at the time. It was always annoying to play. I'm off to work on some Beatles stuff now. Cheers, mczero |

Title: Tired of Waiting For You Date: March 1, 2020 11:18 PM |
Excellent. Thanks yet again. I'm working on a couple of customs from this era and hopefully I will soon be able to repay you. But it takes time... Dissonance?: I did some work on your file and submitted it to SonicApi.com. According to them your song*.ogg file is key="G:maj" tuning_frequency="436.22. (There are other websites that can do this.) Knowing that, you can adjust the pitch in Audacity to A440 before you start on the custom. That gets rid of a bit of dissonance and overcomes continual retuning in play. I'm not asking you to fix this one. Maybe next time. Most Kinks stuff is off concert pitch + or -. Interestingly most Beatles is spot on. Maybe George Martin's influence, I suspect. Thanks again. Yeah. Same here. He seems to make hard work of something he could have played more easily and perhaps is forming full chords but only picking a couple of notes in each. It sure sounds good though. Perhaps he worked it out by ear from Little Richard's piano without being able to see other guitarists play it. I love the way all the expert tutors you found play it a different way too. Thanks again. |

Thanks for this. Any issues? Well I do feel the rhythm track is way oversimplified. It stays on C while the song goes to Em, F and a few other chords in the verses. It's all timed quite nicely and the lead is good but could again have a few full chords at the beginning of each bar like on the record. I'm still glad to have this version in my collection. Thanks. |

Great song. Good effort. I can't tell if the notes are right as the custom tone is insane with distortion. Maybe a straight chord rhythm would be better next time with a clean tone. Hope you see that's meant positively. Customs are a lot of work at first. But you're right, we need more Hank. |

I think Frank played the intro riff an octave lower than in this transcription which may be the vibraphone part (probably) played by Ed Mann. Never-the-less, it's great to have this to play along with either way. The "Open up your pocketbook" part is in the correct octave however. So this is the '78 Live in Chicago version, not the original 200 Motels movie version from '71. In the movie version Frank does a sublime solo in this song which unfortunately he skips here. I would love someone to transcribe that solo if you've got a few months of your life to spare. Anyhow, thanks for both your Zappa efforts so far. Appreciate both. Cheers, mczero |

Great to see it uploaded, thanks. will you be updating it as some notes are out of sync? Thank you for the upload, but it's such a pain having to fix charts so I don't just delete them. I'll upload if I can get around to doing it, Sorry to cause you guys such pain, but transcribing a Zappa solo is not the easiest thing. You don't just find this tab on UltimateGuitar.com you know. There's 3896 notes in this piece and sure about 12 of them are out of sync, but it plays fine for me. If you can explicitly say which notes are out of sync, I might just be able to fix it up. You can use the GP5 provided in the download to find which measure or bar you think there's a problem and let me know. Vague comments and criticism don't help at all. Let's keep it positive. |

Thanks @. This is wonderful stuff. It reminds me of Mike Oldfield who recorded every track of Tubular Bells by himself. As well as great cdlc, you may have shown us the future. Following in the steps of fripponomic, will there come a time when there is no vinly, no CDs, no mp3s and all new music is on separate drum, bass and guitar tracks recorded and charted by the artist and released as Rocksmith cdlc? No previous attempts have been done so well. There's a "fuck ton" of great licks here charted perfectly (whatever a "fuck ton" is). This one goes straight to my favourites list. Ignore the haters with poor language and enjoy the accolades for a job well done. No charters here deserve negative criticism. |

Thanks Antithez, Thanks for charting this great song. It is a good job, highly appreciated. The chart works in Eb tuning as intended. However as noted earlier, since Steve and Ronnie play it in the key of "A" in Standard tuning as clearly seen in your video. Your chart causes us to drop all strings a semitone, then play it a fret higher to get back to "A" again. Steve obviously plays lots of open chords in Standard Tune. The Eb tuning is unnecessary. There are no low Eb notes in the song. Would you like to make an updated version in Standard Tuning? But thanks anyhow. Cheers, mczero |
