Date: July 18, 2024 12:38 PM 		As per my usual habit, I checked this CDLC with the CustomsForge Song Manager and it shows up as an official ODLC... why is that? :/ Not a big deal for me in this case, but the reason why I always check CDLCs with Song Manager is because sometimes I want to make small changes to the Song Information (e.g. fix the sorting or any typo), and if the song is not in E standard I usually want to generate a pitch-shifted version of it, but if the CDLC shows up as ODLC in Song Manager then no change is possible.

I'm curious if you charted the bass by ear... I have an official Thin Lizzy transcription book with tabs for all instruments, and according to it the bass actually plays a massive E5 chord (four strings, frets 0-7-9-9) in the shuffle-rhythmed intro and outro. I actually prefer your version but I wonder if you think Phil is playing a chord there, or not at all.

Go to the Tools -> Tone Designer, load the bass tone from the CDLC, add a pitch shifter effect and set it to -5 semitones, then save it as a custom tone and assign it to one of the hotkeys 2-4. When you play the song, press the hotkey to switch to your custom tone. It won't sound pretty because the pitch shifter always has a metallic sound and small time delay, but at least the notes will be right.

The official video doesn't help (they never show the bass player during the verse). One would imagine that being the main riff, it's kind of important to get it right, but it remains a mystery to me...

Which is actually an official reason to report a CDLC, whereas quality is always subjective... I just think we'd rather inform the author first instead of reporting the CDLC, which is a bit blunt IMO. However, I'm thinking that maybe you don't even have to update the tuning, just add a note in the description which informs users that they should use a pitch shifter on the bass for -5 semitones, and the bass chart should become playable as-is.

Indeed EVH is a nightmare to transcribe by ears, I have some official tablature books of his songs (including Little Guitars) that are full of side notes to explain what the regular notation cannot :) I just checked it out and it DOES say your tuning is correct! I thought I remembered it just Drop D but that is actually if you use a small-scale "little" guitar like EVH did, otherwise with a regular guitar it's F C F Bb D G, or equivalently... Drop D with Capo on 3rd fret! The bass chart however, I think it can definitely be in Standard E.

Came here to ask if I am the only one with lots of detection issues on the bass arpeggio... but I noticed the author of the other version of this CDLC mentions RS has problems detecting multiple bass notes? The odd thing is that when I play it in the riff repeater I often get 0 misses, but if I start the song as a whole there's A LOT of "miss" and "late" notes in the first repetition of the arpeggio (less so in the others). It could be also of course that I am not good enough at it :)

This has become one of my favourite CDLC to play on bass :) And yes it is difficult at first, I had to slow it down to 50% speed and practice a few times, then incrementally speed up by 5% until full speed, but once you get the part at the beginning (which repeats itself also later in the song) the rest is much easier.

Then I came here to write negative feedback, and noticed the comments that the problem is real, but only affects the intro. The question is: how hard it is really to TRY PLAYING your own CDLC before making a release? You used an official TAB, and that's a VERY GOOD idea, but haven't you thought about trying it out at least once on the guitar, even outside the game if the song is difficult to play at full speed, just to verify that the notes are correct? Unfortunately even official tabs sometimes have something wrong.
